The Christian Council of Korea (Han Ki Chong) declares Pastor Choi Sam Kyung "the most evil heretic."

The  Christian  Council  of  Korea  (Han  Ki  Chong)  made  a  final  declaration  that  Pastor  Choi  Sam-Kyung’s  (The  Presbyterian  Church  of  Korea,  “Tonghap”)  “tritheism”  and  “theory  of  conception during (Mary’s) menstruation” are “the most evil and blasphemous heresies.” This declaration was published in the Kookmin Daily as well as in other Christian newspaper publications.
This decision was announced during a press conference held on November 24th, after Han Ki Chong executive board entrusted powers to a special committee (Chairperson Pastor Kim Yong-Do) to or-derly establish countermeasures on Choi’s assertions. Pastor Kim said concerning Choi’s assertion as “heresy that destroys soteriology, Christology, theology proper, and the doctrine of atonement.”
He added, “This decision was made as a strict warning to denominations and organizations in this council against Choi Sam-Kyung’s seriously sacrilegious, blasphemous assertion of tritheism and conception during menstruation.” He further emphasized, “Christian society shall never assert or defend such beliefs.” (*Refer to the announcement by the order-establishment committee)

With the decision that nailed the title, “the most evil heretic,” to Choi Sam-Kyung, who had been a director himself for a heresy countermeasures committee, the Korean Church fell into a great shock. This is because he had claimed himself as a “judge on heresies” and was the most active person in the field for the last 20 years, and with the recent decision, skepticism over his entire activities in the past became inevitable. A Christian newspaper responded with an article, “The reality of the battles against heresy in the Korean Church,” reporting that underneath the disputes on heresies are money, stakes and power struggles.  This article stated that even during the recent process leading to the decision by Han Ki Chong “the Korean Christian society greatly shook as the situation was amplified into a confrontation between Han Ki Chong and the assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea “Tonghap,” another giant in the Christian communities.”

This commotion was reflected also on the internet.  Glances at the titles of these internet articles may make you think that Choi Sam-Kyung was unfairly charged. However, once you start reading a little further, it becomes obvious which side has sufficient evidence and logical conclusions and which side doesn’t. Since Choi Sam-Kyung’s words are well preserved in his writings and publica-tions, any justification such as, “his intentions were misrepresented,” cannot be validated. In No-vember 25th online issue of Christian Today reported, “A majority of the concerned Christian com-munity members believe that this was obviously the right decision,” and titled its article, “Even the religious bodies that had been criticizing Han Ki Chong did not support tritheism and the theory of conception during menstruation.”

On the contrary, Choi Sam-Kyung was not only unable to provide even minimally logical require-ments but also did not hesitate to use fabrication and misrepresentation as he had tried to accuse churches of heresy for several decades. Pyungkang Cheil Church is a good example among his victims. On July 3, 2008 at the 406th High Court of Justice in Seoul, Choi Sam-Kyung, who had been slandering Pyungkang Cheil Church from about 20 years ago, pleaded “no” to his foremost evidence that he had used to accuse the church for decades.  Although he admitted that his ac-cusation against Pyungkang Cheil Church had been fabricated, he remained even more active in spreading his ideas for the last three years, and his claims are still circulated on the internet.

What makes Choi Sam-Kyung and his claims “the most evil” are that he has shaken the core foun-dation of Christianity.  Even without the help of complicated theological explanations, it is quite apparent that his tritheism and theory of conception during menstruation are outrageous theories; they are unacceptable even to nonbelievers with a bit of knowledge about Christianity. He has been pressing these theories and writing them since the 90s.  Although his work was accompanied by countless problems and arguments, he was even more active on his position as the director of the heresy committee. How in the world did such “most evil” claims run rampant for so many years under his official title supported by a great religious body? It is very difficult to understand.

It was under the same preposterous, inexplicable situation that the Pyungkang Cheil Church and its founding pastor Reverend Abraham Park bore their hardships for the past 20 years.  What is even more frustrating is that the very falsehood that had been undeniably proven as fabrication at the court is still causing problems for the church. This is because there are still people who circulate or actively use these false accusations on the internet. Their false accusations have interfered even with Pyungkang Cheil Church’s History of Redemption seminars held both domestically and inter-nationally.  They are a stumbling block in revealing the secrets of the Bible that have been hidden for thousands of years.
If the right and wrong are not clearly identified even after the religious community suffered from “the most evil heresy,” then such suffering will simply pass as nothing but an illness.

Announcement
The Order-Establishment Committee pointed out that Pastor Choi’s argument that “God the Father is one personality and one Spirit, God the Son is one personality and one Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is one personality and one Spirit, and therefore God is made of three Spirits,” ultimately asserts God as three gods. This is the basis of tritheism and contradicts with the Athanasian Creed which is believed and confessed by the entire Christian Church.”
Concerning  the  theology  of  conception  during  menstruation,  the  committee  explained,  “The theory not only weakens the preexistence of Christ and damages the divinity of Jesus, but also claims that Christ’s incarnation would have been impossible without Mary’s menstruation. This is a heretical doctrine that denies the humanity of Christ who was conceived by the Holy Spirit.”  The committee further criticized, “Because such theory threatens at the root of the fundamental faith in Christianity, it is the most evil heresy of all in the Christian church history.”
The Order-Establishment Committee reported that this decision was made based on the evidence collected and expert opinions received during the 2 months of investigation.
