on The Eternal High Priest of the
Covenantal Oath

Looking back, one realizes that the process had been truly unusual. There were no advertisements or publicity, nor were there any boisterous reactions. If anything, the tranquility and quietness seemed strange because the series overflows with contents that are being revealed for the first time in the history of mankind. It was made even more so because the series elucidates the Bible, the most printed and read text from time immemorial, and there was a label attached to it ? “revealed for the first time in history…” In any case, the History of Redemption Series has quickly become an existence that is known by “those in the know.” But the existence of this series is finally becoming known, and its astonishing strength makes one feel nothing but wonder. Already, the international acclaim of the series has surpassed the nation’s own reception, and the publication of each volume in the series has become a global event.

The introduction of the History of Redemption Series in national newspapers shows one aspect of that course. After The Genesis Genealogies was published in January of 2007, one by one, the newspapers began to introduce the History of Redemption Series. In no time, a significant number of major media outlets have joined the ranks to report on the series. The publication of the first book was reported by Dong-a Ilbo, Munhwa Ilbo, YTN, Yonhap News, etc., and the fifth book was reported in a JoongAng Daily article upon its publication. Recently, the sixth book was introduced in Chosun Ilbo, YTN, and Seoul Newspaper.

Chosun Ilbo, the nation’s greatest daily publication, introduced the sixth book on the 18th page with a picture last July 30. The introduction was reported as follows: “Starting from the first high priest of the Old Testament, Aaron, to the seventy-seventh high priest during the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD, the book arranges the genealogy and duties of the high priests and the biblical meaning in systematic order.”

Last August 3, Seoul Newspaper, one of the major domestic newspapers in Seoul, published an introduction of the sixth book. The reporter wrote the following article: “The book’s illuminating arrangement of the genealogy of the high priests ? men who conducted the sacrificial rites during the time of the Old Testament ? has been drawing attention from the Christian community since its publication. Abraham Park, the former moderator of the Hap-dong Conservative General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Korea, explores this work by viewing the Bible from the perspective of the history of redemption. It is his sixth undertaking. Until now, at home and abroad, while there have been books that traced parts of the high priesthood, this is the first time the high priests as recorded in the Bible and their entire genealogy have been traced and completed.”

Last July 23, news channel YTN introduced the sixth book of the History of Redemption Series as follows: “A book that illuminates in depth the priests of the Old Testament, and perfectly restores the garments of the high priest for the first time through research and written accounts.”

It did not make headlines. However, when we take into account the proclivity of Christian groups and the general public to repudiate anything “new,” coupled with the tendency of major news outlets to be quite “stingy” in dealing with a specific religious group, the latest media reports now show that the mood is shifting.



The History of Redemption Series Recognized as the World’s Standard of Redemptive History
Last August 1, the “History of Redemption” was registered as an entry in the Internet encyclopedia, Wikipedia. The entry is organized by definition of “history of redemption,” covenant, administration, providence, etc., and has basically accepted the content of the History of Redemption Series in regard to these concepts. Wikipedia was founded by a group of highly qualified contributors. However, unlike Naver’s “Knowledge Search,” Wikipedia’s experts give the entries a thorough inspection, making the encyclopedic Wikipedia a reliable source. Wikipedia’s popularity has already surpassed that of Encyclopedia Britannica’s and currently sits as the world’s no.1 encyclopedia. The reference and comments sections in the “History of Redemption” entry in Wikipedia reference the writings of eminent theologians such as D. J. Wiseman, Edwin R. Thiele, Paul Lawrence, et al. However, the History of Redemption Series references are credited as being the standard in the subject of the history of redemption.

In addition, the Wikipedia entry on Solomon’s Temple gives a descriptive record of the construction period: “The commonly accepted idea that the temple was built in seven years and six months has been proven to be incorrect in the domestic publication of the fourth book of the History of Redemption Series (The Profound Providence in the Eternal Covenant by Abraham Park). By comparing the distinctive Nisan and Tishri calendars, the book reveals the actual period of the construction of the temple to be six years and six months. Details are as follows . . .” The following details give an explanation and the method of calculation for the construction period. While Christian groups in general, who cannot offer any refutation to this reckoning, also are slow to correct the errors because of their general tendency to wallow in the status quo. However, Wikipedia, which is an entity open to collective intelligence at large, corrected this error first and is establishing a new order.

The reactions of the press and the general public will be more earnest upon the publications of the seventh and eighth books of the History of Redemption Series. This is because the illuminating work of “Jesus Christ” and “the temple” are proceeding toward the highest point. It also means that “the target for the period” is surely being revealed.

However, there is the probability that the angle of the reactions that appear may be different to what frequent readers may have come to expect, similar to the course of books one to six. Two thousand years ago, the turning point from BC to AD was only known to the three wise men and the shepherds who received a vision about the birth of Jesus Christ; but to the priests, Pharisees, Sadducees, etc., history did not present this turning point to them. This shows us that “division” progresses without sound or report. In Jesus Christ’s public life, there were no tumultuous events or extravagant declarations; rather, as it is written in Luke 4:21, “This scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

With the twelfth book as the final target of the History of Redemption Series, the publications have already completed the first half and are underway into the second half of the series. It is impossible not to think about “division” and “distinction.” The publications of books one to six of the History of Redemption Series took approximately three years. The reactions to the solutions given in regard to the Bible’s difficult and age-old subjects have been diverse ? from indifference, disinterest, lukewarm attitudes, and vacillation, to fervent enthusiasm and ignited zeal. The range of choice is hastily getting narrower, whether our faiths are hot or cold!
