I present this one-of-a-kind Bible as a gift to you!
The New Geneva Study Bible: Dr. Whitlock's present to Rev. Abraham Park

The Geneva Bible is the first English Bible translated directly from the original Bible in Hebrew and Greek language. It is the first Bible to be divided into chapters and verses. It is evaluated as the first study Bible with precise footnotes and detailed references recorded in each chapter.
In Geneva, Switzerland, Both the Old and New Testament were published by religious reformers such as John Calvin* and John Knox* in 1560. Geneva in the mid-16th century was the place where many of religious reformers and religious refugees gathered up to stay out of persecution against Christianity. Queen Mary I of England dreamt of the revival of the Roman Catholicism and brutally suppressed Protestants during her reign in the 1550’s. She executed 300 Protestants and was called as “Bloody Mary.” During that time, approximately 800 scholars fled from England alone and most of them gathered to Geneva.
Since then, the Geneva Bible influenced the faith of the British Puritans greatly. It also became the first Bible to be passed to America by the Puritans. The Geneva Bible is based on Calvinism and helps Christians to understand the Bible significantly.

The Geneva Bible has been edited as “The New Geneva Study Bible” in modern times. The editing was completed in 1995 by “the best Biblical scholars of the time” with Dr. Luder Whitlock as executive director. The editors are acknowledged for their distinguished fame and authority in Biblical interpretation, and a substantial number of influential theologians in Korea as well as renowned professors and scholars across the world have studied under them.

The Bible presented to Reverend Abraham Park this time was signed by eight editors. Dr. Whitlock said he had been keeping it as if it were a family treasure. This copy is even more precious as some of the editors have passed away shortly after the editing had been completed. No other copy can be manually signed by all the eight editors jointly anymore.
Dr. Whitlock presented this copy to Reverend Park saying, “It would be more meaningful for Reverend Park to possess this copy than I do.”

Give honor to whom honor is due

Congratulatory Address by Dr. Warren Gage

The Apostle Paul, in Romans 13:7, instructs us to give honor to whom honor is due. Today we are pleased to honor the Rev. Abraham Park for his strong faith, his Christian vision, and his extraordinary ministry.
Born in Sariwon, Hwanghae Province, Rev. Park completed his M. Div. at the Presbyterian General Assembly Theological Seminary. Like Paul, who began his ministry with three years alone with God, Rev. Park lived in a cave on Mt. Jiri alone with God for over three years. From that experience a man mighty in prayer and the scriptures emerged. He grasped the significance of the history of redemption and from that insight came a message that would transform Korea and in time, we are confident, will change the world as the knowledge of God’s redemptive plan covers the earth, as the waters cover the sea.
Rev. Park is noted for his profound Christian commitment. He heartily embraces the Westminster Confession of faith and the sound theology of Reformed orthodoxy as a loyal son of the Reformation. His students are aflame with the zeal for the faith and are remarkably skilled in the holy Word of God, manifesting the precious fruit of the Holy Spirit in their communities and churches.
We acknowledge his extraordinary ministry in his home church, Pyungkang Cheil Presbyterian Church in Seoul, and in over 300 daughter churches in Korea and throughout the world. A strong statesman and patriot, his history of Korea is a lighthouse exposing the darkness of atheistic communism, reflecting his commitment to bring light into darkness wherever it is found. Future generations will look back on Rev. Park’s remarkable ministry with gratitude. They will say, “Remember the days of old, consider the years of all generations. Ask your father, and he will inform you, your elders, and they will tell you.”
Like Rev. Park, Dr. D. James Kennedy, the founder of Knox Theological Seminary, had a remarkably blessed, worldwide ministry. His Evangelism Explosion program is well known in Korea and throughout the world.
Like Rev. Park, Dr. Kennedy was a strong patriot who contended against communism in his own generation and sought to secure the liberties necessary to the free proclamation of the Gospel of grace.
It is our joy to honor his global ministry by conferring this degree upon our Lord’s good servant, Rev. Abraham Park. By vote of the faculty and the approval of the Board of Directors of Knox Theological Seminary, we award the degree of Doctor of Divinity, Honoris Causa, to Dr. Abraham Park on this Sunday, the twenty first day of October, in the year of our Lord, 2012. Amen.
